Under Digital India, our country is being empowered with cutting-edge digital technology where businesses must have online presence to survive. As companies are dealing with a huge chunk of data every day and shifting gears to online and cloud data storage and maintenance, there is amplified need for cybersecurity experts to protect online data from cyber-attacks. Government’s ‘Digital India’ initiative too includes development of secure and stable digital infrastructure to encourage digital literacy and deliver Government services digitally that are further brightening the scope of cybersecurity in India. The cyber security programme at NSHM will enable students to specialize in complex topics like Computer Forensics, IOT security, cloud computing security, IT infrastructure security audit and various cyber laws.
NSHM is one of the top colleges in India to offer M.Sc. in Cyber Security with state-of-the-art infrastructure for high performance computing that is ideally suited for analytics of Big Data, Data Science, Cyber Security, Internet of Things and Cloud Computing. NSHM is associated with national level analytics forums like Analytics India Magazine and Analytics Vidhya to give students access to the best of knowledge resources.
Indian cybersecurity services industry is expected to grow from $4.3 billion in fiscal 2019-20 to $7.6 billion in 2022, according to a recent report by Data Security Council of India (DSCI). Around 80% of this revenue is expected to come from global markets.
Following are some of the roles in the industry for Cyber Security professionals:
computing environment, operating systems, and computer systems architecture.
data structure, C/C++ for basic algorithm development, networking, and Python for machine learning
discrete Mathematics and linear algebra for algorithms and data analysis.
Statistics and Probability for algorithmic computations
network security concepts, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, wireless security
cryptographic concepts for data encryption and protection.
Data privacy needs, information classification, data privacy, and data privacy protection
Wireless and mobile data security, information security risk management and cybersecurity laws
data and information security for computer forensics
Machine learning and Bayesian approach applied to data security
Cybersecurity deals with protecting data and other digital assets. With the increase in digital business protecting there is an increase threat of data compromise. We often hear about online frauds. Our MSc Information & Cybersecurity program is designed to prepare students with necessary skills to protect against cyber threats. Students learn about computer networks, operating systems, network security, firewalls, IDS/IPS, cryptography, cyber forensics, biometric security, data analytics, and more. Hands-on skill development sessions helps students experience the tools and techniques for a career in cybersecurity. We engage our students in various webinars, seminars, workshops, conferences, internship programs, and certification opportunities which are conducted in-house and/or through our knowledge partners to get them industry ready.
