NSHM Knowledge Campus Kolkata launches Its 20th Batch, Celebrating Two Decades of Excellence

On August 4th, NSHM Knowledge Campus Kolkata proudly welcomed its 20th batch of students, marking a significant milestone of 20 years dedicated to delivering quality education and fostering student growth. Revered for its NAAC A+ accreditation, AICTE approval, and affiliation with MAKAUT, NSHM continues to set a high standard in shaping the next generation of professionals.

This landmark batch doesn’t just represent a number; it symbolises a legacy of nurturing talent across diverse fields such as Management, Media, Design, Health Sciences Computing & Analytics, and Hospitality. The institution’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development was evident in the week-long orientation programme, designed to prepare students to thrive academically, socially, and professionally.

CONNECTING MINDS: Students Orientation Programme 2025

The theme for this year’s orientation was ‘CONNECTING MINDS’, which captured the essence of bringing together young talents, industry experts, and mentors. Over seven days, students immersed themselves in motivational talks, interactive workshops, and fitness sessions—all aimed at equipping them with the mindset and skills needed to navigate the challenges of higher education and beyond.

CAMPUS CONNECT: Get to know your campus

One of the standout features of the orientation was the CAMPUS CONNECT sessions, where students had the unique opportunity to engage directly with industry leaders. These sessions weren’t just lectures; they were lively conversations that gave students a real-world perspective on career paths and market trends. Among the panellists were Kanchan Datta, Founder & CEO of Inner Circle Advertising India Pvt. Ltd.; L. Muralikrishnan, Co-founder & CMO of Wow Momo; Paromita Ghosh, Founder Director of Candid Communications; Saptorshi Majumdar, Operational Head Friends Communication; and Yash Sarawagi, Founder of Kisah.

Mind Matters: Mental wellness and stress management workshop

Complementing these were sessions under the banner of Mind Matters, a motivational workshop led by clinical psychologist Mrs Sundhanya Roychoudhury. She guided students through the psychological journey from dependency to independence, emphasising resilience, strategic thinking, and proactive engagement.

Campus Cup: Sports activities to build a healthy competitive environment

Beyond academics and motivation, NSHM believes in the power of extracurricular activities to foster connections and build community. The Campus Cup brought this philosophy to life with a variety of sports and games, including cricket, badminton, tug of war, and chess. These competitions weren’t just about winning trophies – they were about breaking the ice, making friends, and learning teamwork.

Subham, a first-year student and badminton champion at Campus Cup, described the experience as “competitive but incredibly enjoyable.” Meanwhile, a media science student called the orientation “informative and inspiring”, capturing the overall sentiment among the new batch.

REEL TIME : An engaging film show for a thought-provoking experience

Adding an intellectual and cultural dimension to the orientation was REEL TIME, a series of film screenings hosted by the Film and Television department. Students watched critically acclaimed movies like The Social Network, Forrest Gump, and A Beautiful Mind, followed by discussions that challenged them to reflect on themes such as innovation, perseverance, and human connection. These screenings taught students creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Vibe and Shine: Freshers Talent Fest 2025

NSHM’s Centre of Creative and Performing Arts, Aangan, empowers students to innovate and shine. The recent ‘Vibe & Shine’ event showcased talents in dance, singing, beatboxing, and more, unlocking the creative potential of our newest batch of students.

Career Compass: Interactive workshop on career opportunities and development

The Career Development Cell’s Career Compass initiative proved instrumental in preparing students for recruitment drives with hundreds of companies. By providing essential guidance and resources, the Cell empowered students to gain not only knowledge but also the tools and confidence needed to thrive in the job market.

Throughout the week, more than 1,500 students participated in the comprehensive programme, each one stepping into their roles as tomorrow’s leaders and innovators. The campus buzzed with energy and optimism, a vibrant mix of excitement and anticipation filling the air.

Cecil Antony, Chief Mentor at NSHM Knowledge Campus, expressed his enthusiasm about the program’s impact: “This orientation lays a strong foundation for our students’ academic journey. It’s a testament to the transformative power of interactive learning and skill development. We’re not just teaching subjects—we’re shaping confident, resilient leaders ready to take on the world.”

As NSHM Knowledge Campus Kolkata celebrates two decades of excellence, it reaffirms its commitment to nurturing talent, fostering innovation, and building a supportive community. The journey ahead for this 20th batch is full of promise, and the institution stands ready to guide them every step of the way.
