Course Perspective

As Indian economy has grown in recent years, there has been a rapid expansion in the productivity and research in Indian pharmaceutical industry justifying the need of quality pharmaceutical education. NSHM College of Pharmaceutical Technology fulfils the need of the society by creating industry-ready professionals. Moreover, the pharmacy graduates can act as supporting framework in the country’s healthcare system by providing quality patient care services. NSHM College of Pharmaceutical Technology
(Formerly H C Garg Institute of Science & Technology) was established in 2005 as a Centre of Excellence in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.

NSHM College of Pharmaceutical Technology, a part of NSHM Knowledge Campus, Kolkata is promulgating its thumping presence to introduce the Institution for creation of ethical awareness about Pharmaceutical Technology & Healthcare Systems and services to the society and enhancement of the quality of life. Prof. Subhasis Maity
Professor & Principal, NCPT, Kolkata

M. Pharm (Pharmaceutics) and Ph.D. from Jadavpur University. He has experience of 8 years in Pharmaceutical industry and 15 years in teaching. He is guiding five candidates under Ph.D. programme and has many publications in reputed journals to his credit. He is also an ISO lead auditor and GMP consultant.

Mr. Tapas Kumar Pal
Professor

M. Pharm (Pharmaceutics) from Jadavpur University and is a gold medalist in B. Pharm. He has an experience of 22 years in industry and 8years in teaching. He is pursuing Ph.D. work under WBUT.

Mr. Debasis Dutta
Professor

M. Pharm (Pharmaceutics) from Jadavpur University and has an experience of 25 years in Industry and 3 years in teaching.

Dr. Bijaya Ghosh
Professor

M. Pharm in Pharmaceutics as well as Ph.D. from Jadavpur University. She has 24 years of teaching experience and taught in premier institutions of both North and South India. She has published 34 research and review papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals and published a text book on research methodology in Pharmacy. She has guided 19 M. Pharm and 2 Ph.D. students.

Dr. Goutam Pramanik
Professor

M. Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry as well as Ph.D. from Jadavpur University. He has more than 15 years working experience in the Quality Control Department of various companies in the Pharmaceutical Industry and 13 years of teaching experience. Before joining NCPT he was the Principal of Bengal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research, Durgapur. He has ten international and two national publications. Presently he is guiding two candidates for their Ph.D. work.

Dr. Tapan Kumar Barman
Professor

M. Pharm in Pharmacology as well as Ph.D. from Jadavpur University. He has worked as a senior lecturer for 26 years in Institute of Pharmacy, Kalyani and more than 5 years as the principal in Institute of Pharmacy, Jalpaiguri. He has 4 national and 3 international publications.

Prof. A. U. De
Adjunct Professor

He is a prominent figure in the division of Medicinal Chemistry and has around 50 years of teaching and research experience. Prof. De has more than 60 International publications. He has guided a number of Ph.D. scholars.

Dr. Sekhar Kr. Bose
Associate Professor

M. Pharm (Microbiology) and Ph.D. from Jadavpur University. He has an experience of 10 years in industry and 18 years in teaching. He has 6 publications and 8 conference presentations. He has guided 4 M. Pharm students (North Bengal University).

Mr. Sibram Paria
Assistant Professor

M. Pharm (Pharmaceutical Bio-Chemistry) from Jadavpur University and has an experience of 18 years in industry and 7 years in teaching. He has 2 publications and is pursuing Ph.D. work under WBUT.

Dr. Sutapa Biswas Majee
Assistant Professor

M. Pharm (Pharmaceutics), Ph.D. and Post Doctorate from Jadavpur University, PG diploma in HRM from IGNOU. She is a gold medalist in both B. Pharm and M. Pharm. She has an experience of 6 years in teaching and has several publications, conference presentations and also published a book chapter by Intech Publishers. She has carried out a Research Project funded by RD Birla Smarak Kosh, Mumbai.

Dr. Musfiqua Mookerjee
Assistant Professor

M. Pharm (Microbiology), Ph.D. and Post Doctorate from Jadavpur University. She is a gold medalist in B. Pharm. She has an experience of 11 years in research, 5 years in industry and 4.5 years in teaching. She has 22 publications and 10 conference presentations. As a WBUT- Ph.D. guide, she is currently supervising 3 candidates in their doctoral studies.

State-of-Art Infrastructure

The lush green ambience in the campus, far from maddening crowd, is spread over 2.12 acres, in which are situated two Institutional Blocks ,Canteen & Cafeteria.

Class Rooms are spacious, airy and completely dust-free with comfortable seating arrangement. All class rooms are equipped with Overhead LCD projector and LAN connection.

Library

“Knowledge is free at the Library, just bring your own container” - It is a belief to facilitate production & dissemination of knowledge, information, insights & intellect in all scientific communities.

For any academic program in pharmacy, the participant is facilitated with the latest reading resources from all over the world. The Central Library includes a wide range of Text books and monographs of different branches of Pharmaceutical Sciences and allied subjects (more than 6250 volumes & 1225 titles). About 30 printed national Journals, 13 international Journals and are subscribed to two International Scientific Data Base namely Science Direct & Bentham Science Pharmacy collection of journals , through which students can access 100s of scientific journals. Students can access other vital academic information, like previous Semester question papers, project reports stored in Library Server through Reading Room PCs.

Laboratories

The Laboratories are developed with state of the art infrastructure with facilities of advanced & sophisticated equipments. The infrastructure of the Laboratory has been so designed to match the facilities at par with the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Analytical Testing Laboratories in the GMP certified Pharmaceutical Companies and Research Labs. The working atmosphere in regular Practical Classes in such Laboratories will enable the students to be well acquainted with the Industrial manufacturing & testing as well as scientific research processes.

Bachelor in Pharmacy

Course Duration: 4 years

Eligibility Criteria for the B. Pharm Course

Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2, Science) or equivalent examination and have qualified AIEEE or the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board for admission to Engineering, Medical & Technological Degree Colleges as recommended by Central Selection Committee (E&T)

Diploma holders in Pharmacy, qualified in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination for Lateral Entry (WBJELET) are eligible for entry to the 3rd semester (2nd year) of the B. Pharm Course through counseling by CSC (E&T).

NSHM College of Pharmaceutical Technology (NCPT) (formerly known as H.C. Garg Institute of Science & Technology) strives to impart a very high standard of education where there is no compromise on quality. Our family consists of highly qualified professionals who are stalwarts in their own fields and with their guidance I have no doubt that you will be able to reach the goals that you aspire to.

The highly sophisticated library, computer laboratory, state-of-the-art laboratories and other facilities make it a name to reckon with. Additional knowledge is imparted through various programmes conducted under value added curriculum such as certification in TQM/QMS, Knowledge Development in GMP, WHO-GMP and GLP, Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement. The college has undertaken establishment of a Research & Development Laboratory in its campus jointly with DCS, a U.S.A. based organization where R&D works of international standard will be undertaken as per client's requirements.

NCPT organizes National Conference every year which serves as a platform for industry-institute interaction for a large number of professionals, academicians and research scholars. On the occasion of Conference, the Institute launches its Scientific journal comprising of peer-reviewed scientific articles across India and also from abroad.
