Message From the Principal
"I happen to be associated with NSHM School of Hotel Management since 2003. When I joined this esteemed institution, it was already into its 7th year of Operation and I found this college with lots of potential to develop into one of the top hotel management institutions in India. The vision, the mission and the dedication of the team members along with the eagerness of the then students to excel and carve a niche for themselves impressed me a lot. The number of years of experience behind me from my Industry and Academic Career days and my last stint with the industry as a General Manager of a hotel helped me bring industry leaders to this picturesque School of Hotel Management. Starting 2004 NSHM SOHM saw a quantum leap in its Training & Placement performance and the situation is such now that we start our placement in September every year and finish all campus interviews by December, for the batch passing out next year. Since 2007, faith has been reposed on me to steer the boat of this School and along with the supportive management members and dedicated faculty and team members, we are gradually reaching to the top in eastern India and our presence has been felt nationally as well. In 2008 we were rated in Top 15 Hotel Management Institutes in India(Competition Success Review), in Top 10 in 2010(Outlook June 2010), felicitated amongst Top Hotel Management Institutes in India in 2011 (Competition Success Review) and second best in Eastern India(CSR April 2012). Infrastructure, Academic Delivery, Extracurricular activities, training and placement and mentoring students is our forte. There are a set of brilliant people with laurels and distinctions as faculty members who have made it possible over last fifteen years that 1500 plus alumni of this alma mater is working all across the globe and recruiting their juniors, paving the way for International work exposure for our students. I have found it to be one of the few institutions of Hotel management, where the finest Chefs & professionals from the industry have joined as Full time faculty, and have pursued their higher studies through publication of research papers and upgrading their qualification. Many of them are pursuing their PhD. The School also paved the way for me to be nominated in various committees of West Bengal University of Technology, West Bengal State Council of Technical Education and All India Council for Technical Education. The school is also having IATA, Amadeus and Educational Institute of American Hotel & Lodging Association as knowledge partners. The way this School is grooming the students holistically, developing the associated faculty resource I strongly feel in near future, it will be a preferred destination for the students and the Industry-and that is our motto-To be the knowledge hub of global excellence. – Amitabh Dey
