Reporting for Admission 2012

Physical reporting at final allotted institutes by all candidates who have allotted a seat in any rounds 29th to 31st July, 2012 (By Order, West Bengal Govt., Dept. of Higher Education, Technical Branch). All final allotted candidates are advised to bring the following documents at the college at the time of admission: Two sets of attested photocopies of Class 10th Std. Admit Card as Age Proof. Two sets of attested photocopies of Class 10th Std. Mark sheet. Two sets of attested photocopies of Class 10+2 Std. Mark sheet. The Rank Card (WBJEE/AIEEE, by which the candidate is allotted). The Original Provisional Admission Letter (obtained from RC). Six copies of recent Passport size colour photographs of the candidate. All of the candidates are advised to deposit Rs. 19,600/- (Rupees Nineteen thousand and six hundred only) by Cash or by Demand Draft in favour of NSHM Academy , payable at Durgapur. All the candidates who are intended to take hostel are advised to registered their names by depositing Rs. 6,500/- (Rupees Six thousand and five hundred only) as one time Hostel Registration Fee (Non Refundable) by only cash at the time of admission.

2. The candidates are advised to keep the photocopy of the Provisional Admission Letter (obtained from RC).

Fee Structure is subject to change from time to time as per policy of Govt. of West Bengal. University Fees (Registration, Examination and Development is fixed by WBUT. If the University Increases the fees during the course, the students will have to pay the increased fee. All payments should be made within the dates prescribed in the fee chart; otherwise it will attract Late Fine as per rules. Personality Development Programme (PD) and Industry specific Value added training (VT) will bel provided to the students from time to time. These programmes are optional In nature and thel fees for such willl be intimated to students in advance. Compulsory Vocational training prescribed by the University shall be arranged by the college and if any fee is charged by the industry, it will have to be paid by the students to the company directly on actual basis. FEE ONCE PAID ARE NOT REFUNDABLE All Payments has to be made in favour of NSHM Academy, payable at Durgapur only. No payment by Cheque will be accepted. Only Demand Draft or Cash will be accepted. Hostel Charges: Hostel Registration fee : Rs. 6,500/- (one time) Hostel Food & Lodging charges : Rs. 26,400/- per Semester. Hostel charges are to be paid along with the semester fee, if you are availing hostel facilities. Hostel charges are fixed for every 2 semesters and are subject to change.

Course Perspective

The 4 year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) course requires students to have technical aptitude and a creative bent of mind.. The Bachelor of Technology (commonly abbreviated as B.Tech. or B.Tech.(Hons)) is an undergraduate academic degree conferred after completion of a 4 year programme (Eight Semesters which includes seminar,practicals & Projects). Our B.Tech degree is approved by A.I.C.T.E and conferred by West Bengal University of Technology in various fields like Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.

All five programmes are of 4 years duration with an intake of 60 students each and follows a semester pattern (8 semesters in total). The First Year focuses on Basic Science, thereafter the core topics relating to the chosen field are emphasized on. In the final semester, a project is duly submitted.

NSHM Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Durgapur provides students an environment to develop themselves technically and professionally, and has a state of the art infrastructure required for an efficient learning. MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Mechanical Engineering is a branch of engineering and technology, which deals with the favorable application of the laws of nature in micro/macro level. In the micro level the effect of quanta of energy bundle prompts the development of new areas of study, such as the nuclear fission/fusion to the generation of electricity and power without disrupting the eco-system. Development of power from both conventional and non-conventional sources of nature breeds the Power Plants. Then, the macro level analysis creates the opportunity to study the material and its properties which leads to the science and art on designing prospects. For this reason, our faculties are imparting some fundamental knowledge to all students enrolling in engineering.

During the undergraduate study we inculcate the basic fundamentals of engineering to ensure that a young brain understands anything happening under this solar system.

Scope of a Graduate Mechanical Engineer:

After acquiring the B. Tech degree in this stream, multifarious opportunities are explored to become a leading professional. Design and Thermal analysis of different components, machines and power generators. Non-conventional Energy resources for development of eco-friendly Power Plants. Nuclear Power, Thermal Power and Solar Power sectors. Metallurgy, Powder Metallurgy, and Nano-Technology. Aeronautics, Naval and Marine Engineering. Robotics, FMS, CIM and Non-conventional Machining. Simulation, Modeling and Control of different plants/processes/industries. Non destructive testing and Quality Control of high pressure vessels, Weldings etc Management in manufacturing, personnel, marketing, quality etc. Entrepreneurship development in Small, Medium and Large scale industries. Development of different software related to management/industrial/educational applications. Teaching and Research in various fields like heat, power, design, mechatronics etc.

CIVIL ENGINEERING

The Department of Civil Engineering has been set up with a vision of producing high quality technical manpower needed by industry, R&D organizations, and academic institutions. The departmental activities embrace Planning, Design, Construction and Management.

The academic activities of the Department emphasizes on deep understanding of fundamental principles, development of creative ability to handle the challenges of Civil Engineering and the analytical ability to solve problems which are interdisciplinary in nature. The Department also encourages its students to engage in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, essential for development, nurturing of team spirit, and developing organizational skills.

Scope of Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering deals with engineered constructions, their planning, design, construction and management. The profession comprises of many disciplines like Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Surveying. In any activity ranging from defence and industrial development to social welfare and economic growth, it has the largest quantum of resource allocation and utilization

Recognizing the rapid, extensive and emerging developments in Civil Engineering, the degree programme includes Computer Aided Analysis and Design and Remote Sensing besides an integrated and systematic foundation in Physical and Engineering Sciences like solid, fluid and soil mechanics, Materials, Graphics and Surveying. The sequential provision of subjects develops the engineering methodology and practice as applied to planning, design and construction of buildings, bridges, hydraulic structures, environmental systems, transportation systems and others. The programme instils in the students a professional approach through project work and practical training during vacations. As the student progresses with his studies, he graduates from theoretical analysis to problem-solving, designing and filed applications.

COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING

CSE shares the mission and vision of the institute in imparting high quality education to the students. First, it is ensured that the student perceives the computer fundamentals thoroughly. Besides fulfilling the requirements of the syllabus prescribed by the University, the program offers students the opportunity to work on diverse hardware and software platforms.

The teaching in the Department emphasizes on fundamental principles, development of creative thinking and the analytical ability to solve real life problems. The Department also encourages its students to engage in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, personality development, developing team spirit, and developing organizational skills. The Faculty members of the Department are involved in diversified advanced research areas like: Parallel Processing Algorithm Engineering and Foundation of Computing Networking Data Mining & Soft Computing Software Engineering Image Processing
The Department has adequate infrastructures including new laboratories namely Windows NT laboratory, UNIX, Computer Hardware, Linux, and PC Lab (Windows).

ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

Electrical engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. The field first became an identifiable occupation in the late nineteenth century after commercialization of the electric telegraph and electrical power supply. It now covers a range of subtopics including power, electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunications.

From the Global Positioning System to electric power generation, electrical engineers have contributed to the development of a wide range of technologies. They design, develop, test and supervise the deployment of electrical systems and electronic devices. For example, they may work on the design of telecommunication systems, the operation of electric power stations, the lighting and wiring of buildings, the design of household appliances or the electrical control of industrial machinery.

ELECTRONIC & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

Electronics, particularly computer usage coupled with recent space age, endeavors have by this time already crept into every sphere of human activities. Every industry, institution and organization feels the need of an Electronics Engineer and a Computer specialist. Advanced countries in the world have gone to such depths of Electronics today that an Electronics Engineer is indispensable in every front. Opportunity in this highly sophisticated and advanced branch of engineering is just immense.

The Department has highly qualified and competent faculty members in the areas of Digital Signal Processing, Active Circuits, Data Communications & Networking, Mobile and Wireless communications, High Speed Networks and so on.
