An Industry Perspective

The health care industry is one of the largest in terms of revenue & employment. The sector has registered a growth of 9.3% between 2000-2009. At this current growth rate, the industry in India will touch US$275 billion by 2020 according to a recent press release by CII.

MHA is equal to and more than MBA course in Health care. A suitable work experience can always add to the higher employability prospects vis-à-vis a fresh graduate, quite like in MBA as well. With NABH and other quality drives in hospitals and health care delivery organizations, there is now a growing demand to employ MHA qualified people. Also, there lies a scope beyond hospitals as well. For example, getting employed as health care program coordinators and resource persons in International NGOs – UNICEF, WHO, etc, NGOs and GOs. The character of the course is experiential learning, with 90 hours of training per semester. The students usually get placed prior to or during the final semester.

FACULTY GUIDED PRACTICAL TRAINING/INTERNSHIP

The final year curriculum provides a sharper focus and students are placed in different hospitals/healthcare organisations throughout the country for intensive training / internship. The students are also required to carry out research on any particular subject of healthcare and need to submit dissertation to the institute.

Progressive education must stretch the realms of teaching beyond the four walls of classrooms. At NSHM we constantly try to do that and give our students a different perspective to lessons, through participatory workshops, seminars and hands on training in practical skills.
