Research Wing
The Research Wing plays a very important part at the NSHM Business School. The applicable information is gathered and examined, so that the consequences are helpful and appropriate to the students for making decisions. Once the research and analysis are done, the outcome becomes useful and provides information concerning critical issues. This is why the research wing is important. At NSHM Business School, we have a dedicated Research Cell.
NBS Business Research And Information Cell (BRIC)
The Business Research and Information Cell (BRIC) of NSHM Business School, Kolkata has been actively involved in providing research support and creating an environment of research orientation among the faculty members. This has resulted in several research publications in international and national journals along with non-technical publications in magazines. The faculty members of NBS have also been actively engaged in presenting their research output in conferences. The NSHM Journal Of Management Research and Applications (NJMRA)
The BRIC publishes this one of a kind bi-annual refereed journal which presents current management research and ideas in a lucid format accessible to both the academia and industry. The NJMRA is a forum for academicians, business leaders, policy makers, researchers and students to exchange and discuss ideas, to reflect on experiences and approaches and to strengthen the spirit of cooperation and collaboration between industry and academia.

Enterprise First, the entrepreneurship cell (E-Cell) of NSHM is focused on jump-starting the pursuit of students’ entrepreneurial aspirations. Other than a diverse course load and innovative
on-classroom & off-classroom experiences, students study and learn alongside business-practicing faculty as well as interact with successful business owners through projects, mentor programmes and internship opportunities. Such experiences help students develop their entrepreneurial outlook.
E-Cell of NSHM participates in E-Week, an annual week long competition organized by NEN (National Entrepreneurship Network) where more than 270 management institutes participate including the IIMs.
NSHM was the National Champion of NEN’s E-Week in year 2008 and National Runner-Up in 2010.

B - Genius
This one of its kind business quiz is designed and conducted by NSHM Business School as an annual event. The inaugural year attracted participation of over 250 contestants from over 25 graduate/engineering/management colleges across West Bengal. With prizes worth lakhs to be won, the quiz organised by our students is set to become an all India management quiz event in coming years.
CEOs Conclave
A unique conclave of the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and leading representatives of various top business organizations, industry bodies and academic institutions, the Conclave creates an industry-academic interface to deliberate on some of the most pressing corporate, industrial and social issues in India and evolve suitable strategies. The Conclave held by NSHM Knowledge Campus Kolkata, provides a platform for leading minds to come together on an annual basis.
SPEARHEAD 2009 was a major step towards academy-industry interface in the region. The Conclave deliberated on the theme ‘Strategic Leadership in the Turbulent Environment’, a topic of great relevance to the corporate world and management academia. Over 250 delegates comprising largely of CEOs, managers, researchers, faculty members and students participated in the Conclave.

Mentor Mentee Programme
The Mentor Mentee programme is part of our focus on real life experiential learning. Our students will have an external mentor (an entrepreneur or a senior manager of a company) who will groom our students, and an internal mentor (one of our own professors) who will have a small batch of students under him and spend time to prepare the students for the rigours of the industry. The objective of the Mentor Mentee programme is to prepare our students for the industry and to supplement their normal curriculum through industry internships, personal attention and one-to-one training. The MBA Course
MBA Specializations
NSHM Business School offers dual specialization MBA, affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Note: Each student should take three Major Specialization papers from any one group and one Minor Specialization paper from any other group (for both third & fourth semesters). All students of any one college can take only one paper as Minor Specialization from any group (apart from the Major Specialization group) in both the third & fourth semesters.
A candidate can choose one major and one minor area of specialization. Following five areas of specializations offered are:
Marketing
Candidates with specialization in marketing, from NSHM enjoy excellent career growth in this highly competitive world. Marketing manager, market research analyst, brand manager and new product manager are some of the job profiles available for MBA marketing professionals from our institute. Other specialized corporate positions like advertising manager, marketing communications manager, sales manager and PR director also interest our students.
Finance
Financial managers are the people in charge of overseeing and maintaining the financial strategy and history of a company. He/she is focused on strategy and money management. Finance has been one of the more popular choices for our MBA students.
Most prospective jobs for MBAs with specialization in finance fall within investment banks, corporations, and security firms. Many financial management students also follow careers in the consulting industry.
Human Resource Management
MBA with specialization in Human Resources or HR enables an individual to pursue a career in Human Resource or Personnel Management. Corporate Relations and Talent Transfer (CRTT)

NBS Finance Conclave
A Finance Conclave on ‘The recent developments in Financial Markets and the Regulatory Concerns’ was organized by NBS on 8th April 2011 at Tollyclub, HSBC Hall. Eminent speakers from the industry and academia delivered their presentations and speech addressing various issues which came up in the forum. Faculties from different Management Colleges participated in the enriching interactions. The speakers highlighted on issues like market growth, integration, investment behavior, industry expectations, changes in capital markets and such others.
