Dr. Sumit Kr. Biswakarma



Designation: Assistant Professor

An alumnus of IHMCTAN, Kolkata, he is presently working in the Food and Beverage Service Department. His area of interest and expertise is in Research Methodology, Hospitality Marketing and HR. Dr. Sumit has qualified UGC-NET in Tourism and received his PhD in Tourism and Hospitality Services Management from IGNOU. After completing his masters in MBA (HRM & CRM) and MSc in HMCT, he completed his M.Phil in Management and passed with a First Class Distinction from TGOU, Nagaland. He is a Tourism and Hospitality professional with over 18 years of experience. He has been associated with The Park Hotel, Kolkata and worked in pre-opening team at ITC Sonar, Kolkata. He has many publications in reputed national and international journals and is a member of Editorial Board for International Journal of Tourism and Hospitality

Industry Experience: Dr. Sumit has been associated in varied companies – The Astor Hotel, The Park Hotel, ITC Sonar, Kolkata and ITC Maratha and IBM, Mumbai.

Academic Experience: He has been associated for a year with a management college at NSMS, Durgapur. He has addressed few sessions for various colleges including SIT, Siliguri and conducted training session for KB Women’s College Jharkhand, Medica Super Speciality Hospital, Kolkata and Synergy Kitchens, Kolkata.

Research Highlights: Dr. Sumit has published nearly fifteen papers and articles in various international and national journals, contributed chapters in various books, attended over a dozen seminars and conferences.
• His paper presented at the International Conference at NIT, Durgapur was adjudged as the Best Paper in HR.
• Two Papers has been published in the Conference held at IISWBM, Kolkata and at BCIHMCT, New Delhi. He has been a Reviewer for COMPASS Journal at Garden City University, Bangalore and is in the Editorial Board of International Journal of Tourism and Hospitality.

Significant Professional Achievements: UGC-NET Qualified, MPhil First Class with Distinction, Batch Topper and East Zone Topper in PGD Food Safety and Quality Management from IGNOU.
