Personal Branding Workshop – Level I

‘ISB Silver Certification Workshop’ or Effective Personal Branding’ was conducted on 6th and 7th March, 2013 by India Skill Bridge hosted by Mr.Prithwish Bose for the MHA (2012-2014) students.

Venue: NSHM Knowledge Campus, Kolkata.

Mr.Prithwish Bose is a multi-skilled Professional with functional specialization in Learning and Development for more than 16years of exposure in Retail, Hospitality and Telecom & CRM (BPO) in India, Singapore and Australia.

The workshop was held with 20 handpicked students of MHA who were got introduced about the concept of Personal or Self Branding and its few components in Level I.

Started with the exchange of brief introduction about each other, a small quiz was held in the beginning on Branding Concept of different celebrities who all are associated with different consumer products and its importance.

Mr. Bose did let the student acquire knowledge about the most important step of Personal Branding is how to set Individualism when it comes to Employability through his valuable lectures and useful Power Point Presentations.

Students were made experts on creating their own professional resume as the first eye catcher for the recruiters.

Mr. Bose also helped and guided the student on how to get connected with different personnel from same or other line of businesses in terms of professional and career prospective with the opening of an account in Linkedin.

The two days of workshop was very interactive. It was a learning session with the involvement of some group task performance.


 

NATCONPH 2013, By Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, on 1st & 2nd March, 2013

The College of Pharmaceutical Technology organized the 4th National Conference on "Changing scenario of Pharmaceutical Technology & Research in the era of globalization: an Indian perspective", on 2nd March, 2013 at the NSHM Knowledge campus, Kolkata.

The objective of the conference was:
To encourage and bring together important stake holders mainly from the premier organizations, research institutes, business world, and teachers and students from pharmaceutical institutes on a common platform. To organize an exhibition for pharmaceutical equipments and machineries so that students can have a firsthand knowledge and experience on functioning of the same. To encourage interaction between industry and academia in order to open up the avenues of collaborative ventures in terms of innovation of projects and curriculum research. To disseminate knowledge through poster presentation and oral competition related to pharmaceutical topics in the field of academics. To provide opportunities to students to show-case their talent in cultural events, drama, etc. To widen personal network of faculties and students with scientists from all fields related to pharmaceutical sciences.

3rd Annual Impressionz - Edu Excellence Award by DoMS

The Department of Management Studies (DoMS), NCMT Durgapur hosted the 3rd Annual Impressionz - Edu Excellence Award 2013 on 2nd March, 2013. Impressionz, an annual award ceremony is hosted every year by DoMS to felicitate its students of BBA (H) & BIRM courses for their exemplary and extraordinary performance across various disciplines like academics, extracurricular, co curricular, sports and leadership. Impressionz 2013 also showcased events like extempore, paper presentation, advertisement campaigns and music band performances to name a few, apart from prizes for their excellence in studentship. Also, distinguished personalities from the industry and academics graced the occasion with their presence.


 

Y-Comm 2013 – Colours of Communication

The NSHM Institute of Media & Communication (NIMC) annual communication fest-- Y-COMM was inaugurated by noted painter Mr.Wasim Kapoor in presence of Multicon group chairman Mr.Dileep Singh Mehta.

Mr Kapoor inaugurated the two-day fest, with a master stroke of his brush on canvas, depicting “the colours of communication”, the central theme of the fest, being held at the NSHM Knowledge campus, Kolkata. Along with Mr Kapoor, several special children and elderly members of Helpage India also painted on the theme.

About 20 colleges from Kolkata and Durgapur participated in the fest, dominated by competitive events relating to communication. Popular singers Pratik Chowdhury and Ujjaini performed.

Besides the different competitions, eminent professionals including Ms Madhavi Mukhopadhyay (Cinema), Ms Alokananda Roy (Dance & Choreography), Ms Agnimitra Paul (Fashion Design) and Ms Subhashini Mistry (Founder-Director, Humanity Hospital) were felicitated with Y-COMM awards for excellence.


 

IBM Academic Initiative Program and Software Training(s)

The Workshop of “Industry Orientation Program was organized and conducted by Computer Science and Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, NSHM Knowledge Campus – Durgapur,and ARDENT Computech Pvt. Ltd., Salt Lake, Kolkata-700064. on the February 06, 2013

This being an Industry Orientation Programme, the participants included those who had completed third semester of their engineering B.Tech across all streams. So, majority of second and third year students of B.Tech, CSE, ECE, EEE, Civil and Mechanical were present in the workshop. Also inclusive were Faculty Members of all Engineering Departments.The IOP will prepare them to face the varied and dynamic needs of the industry. The IOP supplements in understanding of business practices, commitment to quality, and timeliness with the aim to improve leadership quality and team spirit. The Workshop is designed to address the basic requirements of industries. The subjects have been chosen with a view to impart knowledge and training in areas that are of maximum need of the industry.

Prof. (Dr.) Amit Kumar Aditya, Director, NSHM Knowledge Campus – Durgapur, welcomed and thanked all participants for coming. He also introduced the workshop facilitators Mr. Indranil De Sarkar, HR Director, Ardent Infotech Pvt. Ltd. , Mr. Tamonjoy Dutta, Speaker and Mr. Rajmohan De Sarkar, Technical Director, Ardent Infotech Pvt. Ltd. and noted that the Local counterpart would help with the workshop and thus requested the participants to be patient and co-operative. He hoped that the workshop would go on well thereby officially opening it.

Y Camp 2012

It offers off-campus classrooms in the heart of nature. Students learn from various activities in the environment mentored by faculty members. This year NIMC students were exposed to wildlife at Garumara forest, north Bengal. The students learnt teamwork, hardship and decision making while planning their activities and execution. They also developed a closeness with nature and sharpened their appreciation of its beauty.

National Pharmacy Week, 2012

51st National Pharmacy Week was celebrated in NSHM Knowledge Campus Kolkata, Group of Institutions on 24th November 2012.

It is an event where budding pharmacists are encouraged to dedicate themselves to their future profession and devote more time to the society for the benefit of mankind. On that day we had lectures by the invited speakers like Mr. Sovan Bagchi, Registrar, West Bengal Pharmacy Council, Mr. Sambhu Nath Dey, Asst Director, Drug Control, Dr. Chintamoni Ghosh, Director, Directorate of Drug Control, West Bengal and Dr. Amalendu Basu, Director, Directorate of Technical Education, West Bengal on the theme of “Pharmacists in Public Health” . The toppers of all the year and the students with best attendance were awarded there.

A number student events associated with the theme, like Poster presentation, Debate, Extempore and Quiz were organized.

 

Modern HR Practice: An Interactive session (Dec. 21st, 2012)

Mr. Kaustav Sen, Head HR, Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi a part of Inter Continental Hotel Group, had an interactive session on modern HR practices with Students Of NSHM Business School, Kolkata. The session was a part of series of guest lectures where students of NSHM Business School gets an opportunity to interact and share experience with professionals from different industries. Team NSHM thanks Mr. Sen for sparing a day for us from his busy schedule.

 

Engineers’ Day

On behalf of IEEE AP MTT joint chapter Calcutta Section we welcome participants and eminent professors, scientist to this two day workshop on Microwave Circuits. Proliferation of wireless communication and demand for wideband and multiband systems have ushered the research in microwave engineering. The workshop is being organized at NSHM Knowledge Campus Durgapur, Dist. Burdwan, and West Bengal, India to disseminate the upcoming research which had tremendous impact resulting in paradigm shift of IEEE AP MTT Joint Chapter Calcutta Section and NSHM Knowledge Campus Durgapur. A farrago of topics in microwave circuits is expected to be covered followed by brief discussions between participants and expert panel.

Title of session - Understanding Consumers for Effective Marketing
A Postgraduate and Fellow in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad, is currently Associate Director of the Center for Global Management and Responsible Leadership. He has been a faculty at XLRI, Jamshedpur , since 1994. He has also been a visiting faculty to leading institutes in Indian including the Indian Institutes of Management in Ahmadabad, Calcutta and Lucknow and international institutes including American University of Armenia and Educatis University Switzerland. Prior to his stint at XLRI, Professor Venugopal held managerial positions for 10 years in the marketing divisions of two agribusiness companies. Prof. Venugopal has authored five books; “ Marketing Channel Management: A Customer Centric Approach”, “Managing the Sales force: A Motivational Approach”, “Sales and Distribution Management: An Indian Perspective”, “Marketing Management; A Decision Making Approach and “Input Management, State of Indian Farmer: A Millennium Study”. He has presented paper sat national and international conferences as well as published articles in leading national and international journals. He has also been involved as a consultant with several projects for both the profit and non-profit sectors.

Alexandra Merrill

Merrill Associates (a teaching, training and consulting business) Yale University

Title of session - Perception, Projection and Prejudice
Over the past 5 decades, and through her work in India, Indonesia, Western Europe, and the United States, Alexandra Merrill has worked in collaboration with countless diverse groups of women and men to develop, test and teach her own female- identified group dynamics theory and the attendant leadership practices. Alexandra is the president of Merrill Associates, a teaching, training and consulting business. Over the years, Alexandra has held professional memberships in the National Training Laboratories Institute and The Indian Society for Applied Behavioral Sciences (ISABS). She has served as the chair of the board of directors of Hope Springs Institute (HopeSpringsInsititute.org.), and is a recipient of the Maine Women's Fund Award, given annually to women who have made significant contributions to the lives of other women. Living and teaching in Maine, she has degrees from Smith College, and Yale University.

Bhanu's work profile has evolved from several roles such as teacher, mentor, personal development consultant, researcher, Organization Development (OD) and Diversity consultant to organizations and individuals for over 30years. She is a graduate in social sciences with masters diploma in Personnel Management and accreditation in Applied Behavioral Sciences from Indian Society of Applied Behavioral Science (ISABS). She staffs Group Relations Conferences – GRC (Known as Tavistock Model) in India that primarily works with unconscious dynamics in individuals, systems and organizations since 1984. She facilitates, large and small system development, life skills for youth, ODand diversity based leadership interventions in client systems. She is one of the founder members of an OD consultancy group called - Group for Institution Development (GRID) based in Bangalore, India -an organization that pioneered OD in South India. She also led the group as president, vice president, secretary and board member from1988 to 2002. In 1991, she co-founded 'Chamundi'- a bi-national, women's organization along with Alexandra Merrill and Katarina Weslein. She has redesigned her work from 2011 to focus on leadership retreats for women & men and OD and diversity work in organizations.
