| SOUMENDRA NATH GHOSH, Assistant Professor & Head of Optometry & Vision Science Dept. : |
Mr Soumendra Nath Ghosh has received his Post Graduate degree in clinical Optometry (M.Optm) after his graduate qualification (B. Optm) in optometry from NBSP (Orissa). He has also completed his advance diploma in Optometry (D. Optm) from Jadavpur University (Kolkata) and a certification in Contact lens (CLEP) following a Fellowship from Academy of Optometrists (FAO).
He is an associate member of International Association of Contact lens Educators (IACLE), Sydney, Australia and Optometric Association of India (OAI), Kolkata. Presently he is also supervising dispensing education as an e-pep coordinator under International Centre for Eye Care Education (ICEE), Australia.
One of his major initiatives is to develop a collaborative degree program (Masters in Optometry and Applied Visual Sciences) with Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK under the successful project grant of UK-INDIA EDUCATION RESEARCH INITIATIVE (UKIERI). Presently he is acting as a project leader under UKIERI to facilitate arrays of further collaborations including curricula development, student exchange and research collaborations (currently working in the area of visual psychophysics, “Design & Construction of Bengali LogMAR chart”) with Anglia Ruskin University. |
| Biswajit Mondal, Senior Lecturer, Deptt. of Optometry & Vision Science : |
Mr.Biswajit Mondal received his Post Graduate Qualification in Clinical Optometry (M.Optm) after his Bachelor Degree in Optometry (B.Optom) from Rajasthan Vidyapeeth (Deemed) University. Following graduation he received a certificate in Clinical Course in Contact Lens Practice from Dr. Mohanlal Memorial Gandhi Eye Hospital. Mr. Mondal has 3 years of Clinical experience in Eye Hospitals & Eye Clinic & more than 3 years of teaching experience in reputed institution.
He is presently engaged in extensive research in the field of Cornea & Contact Lens & Occupational Optometry. Mr. Mondal has to his credit, several scientific presentations in National & International Conference. He also served as a joint secretary to organize a national optometry conference in Khajuraho in the year 2005. He is an associated member of International Association of Contact Lens Educator (IACLE), Sydney, Australia & Indian Optometric Association (IOA), Delhi. His areas of interests are Cornea &Contact Lens, Clinical Refraction & in Occupational Optometry. |
| Manjira Acharyya, Senior Faculty, Deptt. of Optometry& Vision Science : |
Ms. Manjira Acharyya has done Graduation in optometry (B. Opt) from Aditya Jyot Institute of Optometry (Mumbai) & B. Sc (Zoology) from University of Calcutta. She has done ORBIS Fellowship in Paediatric Optometry & Orthoptics from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. Ms. Acharyya has 1.5 years of working experience in hospital & Retail optical & is now attached with this academic institute. She has participated in several eye/vision care camps both in Mumbai & different parts of West Bengal.
She has also participated in various national & international conferences, CMEs & Symposiums in the areas of optometry. Her areas of interests are Paediatric optometry & squint. She is also the life member of Indian Optometry Association (IOA), Delhi. She is presently undergoing a research study in the area of stereopsis. |
| Sajal Dasgupta, Lecturer, Deptt. of Optometry & Vision Science : |
Mr. Sajal Dasgupta has done Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Shree Ramkrishna Shilpa Vidyapith, Suri under WBSCTE, and achieved overall 80% marks in electrical Engineering. He has 1 year of industry experience in Chittaranjan Locomotive Works as GOI trainee. He has also done Certificate Course in Computer, Certificate Course in management from IIPM, Certificate Course in First Aid from DSP passed in First Division, Senior Diploma in art from Sangeet-O-Sanskrit Parishad. He has done project work On Pole mounted substation, Optical Fibre and LASER.
He is teaching as faculty for last 6 years under WBUT in the Department Optometry and Vision Science in this Institute. He was appointed as an external Examiner for WBSCTE Practical Exam in 2006 in the subject of Engineering. He attended several workshop and seminars of Optometry.
His areas of interest are Illumination engineering, spherical & Chromatic Aberration. Presently he is working on an experimental research study “Defects in the image formation”. |

| Mr. Arup Kumar Barman has done his 3 years of Diploma in Optometry (D.O.S) from Institute of Ocular Science, Kolkata. Mr. Barman has 15 years of practicing experience in Eye care & Research centre at Kolkata. He also served as an Executive body member of Optometric Association of India (OAI) Kolkata. |
