| AICTE was created under the provision of the Constitution of India (under Act No. 52 in 1987). This statutory body has been established to assist in the proper planning and coordination of the technical education system throughout the country. The stress is on qualitative improvement of education and the regulation and proper maintenance of norms and standards in the technical education system. |

| West Bengal University of Technology has been formed by the Government of West Bengal, as the apex University to award degrees for all Technology and Management courses. It also regulates and facilitates the course content and delivery norms of professional degree programmes within the state of West Bengal. |
